I ordered SEO Fitness Workbook 3 days ago.I also purchased the digital version which I got immediately. On the day I finished the digital version, the hard copy arrived. This book was written very well for people like me, a neophyte. Jason obviously understands the perplexing concepts of SEO and he breaks it down to the level of a 6th grader. I have many books on the subject and most of them left me with more questions that had no answers. Aside from a well written book, Dr. McDonald makes himself available to answer questions. I emailed him a question late at night and got my answer (clearly explained) within an hour! I thought to myself,”was he waiting for me to ask a question?” Look! If you are searching for the bible of SEO, Here It Is

First things first — I’ve read a LOT on SEO. Dr. McDonald’s in’t the first, but it may be the last — well, until he updates in next year and publishes a fresh new version for us. Some advice: 1) read the reviews; 2) don’t judge the book by it’s cover (I come from a design background, so I look at things from that perspective); 3) read the book; 4) do what he says; 5) enjoy the results. Dr. McDonald does a couple things very well, with the most obvious one being — he puts together useful, actionable information on SEO in a concise and straight forward package. He addresses reality, myths, and all other manner of important details you can take to the bank — literally, if you do what you’re told. Because as he puts it, SEO leads to ranking, ranking leads to leads, and leads lead to sales. Okay, he was way more articulate than I am, but you get the point. Enjoy.

A must-have for any individual or business with a web presence!

I’m in a business where digital marketing is key to my success, but SEO has been hanging over me like a black cloud. How do you use keywords effectively? What are tags? What helps a site rank high on Google, what hurts it? The list of questions goes on and on, but this book answers ALL of those. Not only that, but Jason McDonald does a great job of presenting it the way a that makes everything achievable instead of intimidating. The book comes with opportunities to acquire additional tools, and Jason has a library of videos that accompany what it taught in the book. I’m no longer intimidated by SEO – now I’m looking forward to doing more it!

I don’t own a small business but I am a freelance writer, which means that I’m often doing writing work for websites that do care about SEO and I realized it was something I really needed to get a better understanding of. This book uses a very approachable, easy to understand tone that keeps things simple (and occasionally humorous. Always nice to grin while trying to learn something!). It’s just written in an extremely conversational style that I like. It also explains everything very thoroughly and goes into details when explaining concepts. It is focused on small business owners and for the most part assumes and talks about you as if you are one. So for me, that did feel a little alienating, but it still had all the information that I needed and wanted. I liked the to-do lists and assignments scattered throughout the book as its good practice for implementing the things you’ve just read, and for me, helped me to remember better what I was learning. Probably not an issue in the print edition, but a lot of the images don’t show up great in the Kindle addition and could use with being bigger.

This book is a great resource for the small business person. A lot of business manuals get so bogged down in tech speak that it goes right over the head of someone not tech savvy (I am or of those people). This book gets down to my level and breaks down SEO optimization into steps I can easily follow and understand. This book is thorough, but succinct. However, I have one caveat. The author gives assignments along the way, so to get the biggest benefit from the book I highly recommend doing the work alongside the author. If you intend to just read the book and not do the work, I think you miss out on the full benefit of the author’s knowledge. This book is very much like a college class, you get out what you put in. The screenshots are wonderful tools to follow along with and make sure I am on the right track. The kindle version also has links to follow, something that might be lost in book format.

I knew nothing about SEO before I got the SEO Fitness Handbook: 2017 Edition. I am starting a small publishing company and thought that SEO was only for the big companies. But I need all the free help I can get and people told me that I could get more sales if I learned about keywords and SEO. I was hesitant to even begin to learn about SEO because it seemed difficult with lots of jargon. I was shocked when I read this book because for the very first time I could understand what an SEO is and how to use it. Yes, there is a lot to learn but this book (and videos) took me step-by-step through the process. One of video links in the book took me to a video that showed me how big companies use SEO on their webpage. Jason patiently explains how different big companies become the top Google hit. By seeing different companies and their different approaches, I finally began to understand how SEO could work for my very small business. Jason clearly is an expert. To be honest, at first I felt confused by all the new terms. But the book and videos broke all these terms and concepts down to steps I can easily understand. I like this approach of having lots of layers of information.
