I have been a virtual student of Dr. Jason McDonald for the past 5 or so years. I went from zero knowledge about SEO to becoming a competent content creator who has enjoyed writing articles and blogs for concerns all across the USA, and in the United Kingdom as well. Dr. McDonald has also allowed me to be a part of his webinars, which are virtual classrooms in which he teaches the ever-changing science of SEO. If you don’t want to waste time sorting through all the dubious advice of the thousands of SEO “gurus,” and you want to avoid getting tainted advice that could get you BANNED from Google, YouTube, Amazon, and other essential platforms, then gift yourself a copy of this book and get signed up for Dr. Jason McDonald’s webinars. He also has a special web page for purchasers of the book where you can download tons of free, and valuable SEO tools, worksheets, and more. If you follow my reviews on Amazon, you know that I am generally very hard-nosed. I want my readers to get the best value for their hard-earned dollar. This review community has saved me from wasting money on many occasions, and I always seek to do likewise for others.

As the title states, this is a workbook. It is not a broad book, desiring to change your viewpoint from which you will then build a strategy. Nor is it a book working at the nano level, all about making those tiny tweaks which change your “metrics” by 3%. Instead, this book gives you the basic understanding of how the major social media platforms work, and how to navigate them. Jason (the author) provides valuable examples and details for context to see how each might (or might not) fit into your own work and customer interaction. And then he gives you specific tasks to help you determine what you should be focusing on, help you gather relevant, specific information, and begin building what will serve you best. Most importantly, McDonald is super encouraging, and shapes your expectations (of the platforms and yourself in this work). His website has a huge amount of supporting pages which expand and personalize what the book provides. Cons: The book is only the basics The book does not dive into how to make money using social media, just how to use it. For example, it talks about Pinterest, but not how you make money doing the things you’re told to do.

A Workbook About Something I Don’t Understand – That I Can Understand!

I received this book at a discount in exchange for providing unbiased feedback. I bought the 2016 version of this workbook towards the end of 2016, and never really got around to doing much with it. I was hoping the 2017 version, though, with its updates, would include working with Instagram which is where I want to focus my marketing efforts (unfortunately it didn’t). I consider myself a beginner who really resists marketing, and even with just getting on board with social media in general. This book, however, did an excellent job of guiding me through the processes. I appreciate that so much! I found most chapters were relevant and helpful, with timely prompts for review, and tools and downloadable sheets for exploring further. Invaluable! Jason McDonald’s writing is succinct, and easy to read and comprehend, putting it a notch above most other social media marketing resources out there. He seems to know just what we need, even when we might not! I still hope in the next version that Instagram will be included! Thank you for a really great resource!

Finally a book that is not only easy to implement but thorough! Definitely for someone (like me) who has very little social media experience and doesn’t want to waste time testing the waters without a discernible plan. I’m on social media first-and-foremost to market my business and this book delivers for that. It’s full of actionable items, freebies, links, and suggestions. I don’t feel like I need any other how-to social media book in order to take my business to a new level.

What a great resource book for marketing your business through social media. Author Jason McDonald has done a remarkable job of giving you everything you need for your business to succeed. He gives links to follow, resource references, videos, and a fabulous tool book that goes with it for all your free social media tools. This is a book you shouldn’t be without if you want to succeed. It’s the best-selling marketing book out there, and Author McDonald has done a great job of giving you step-by-step instructions. I love that the author compares social media to a huge party and you’re the host. In that analogy, content serves as the food and entertainment. This book is easy to follow and it’s great for any beginner. Since I’m not familiar with every social platform out there, the author gave a super-fast intro to that platform. I for one am just one person looking to market my product, and the information contained in this book has helped me get going. If you’re an entrepreneur like me with a small business, this book’s definitely for you.

Social Media Marketing Workbook by Jason McDonald is chocked full of information about how your business can use social media to market your products. One of the most impressive aspects of this book for me was the fact that it was broken down into specific sections. Social media is such a broad term that a book could give generic information and call it valuable. But McDonald’s book actually breaks down each different social media platform and gives specific advice on how to market effectively on each one! Marketing on Facebook is incredibly different than marketing on Twitter. Many books would give the same generic advice for both, but not McDonald! He gives an over the top amount of content that is specific to each platform. I also liked the numerous pictures and screenshots that helped give a visual explanation. Because each social media platform is different, it was nice to have something to look at to actually see what McDonald was talking about. There were a number of free resources within the book, too, that would either explain in more detail or offered a video tutorial to help you understand the step by step instructions.
